Agent Strange

Mike McFadden (Singer), A Cee (Production and Samples)

Hailing from Philadelphia, Mike McFadden moved to Brooklyn in 2005 to pursue a career in music. He needed time and opportunity to find his voice, and through various projects and bands he gained experience, but it wasn’t until his chance meeting with A Cee that he found the kind of project he was looking for.

A Cee started producing and making beats for fun with some rapper friends in 2001. He attended school at Red Rocks College in Colorado, with the idea that a good grounding in Audio Engineering would make him a better Producer. Following that he attended the Institute of Audio Research, in New York City, to learn more about Audio Engineering. After school, he got an apprenticeship at Temple of Soul Production and started creating mix tapes at his home studio. He now works at Big Blue Meenie Studio’s in Jersey City.

Mike and A Cee met in 2007 at a second job they both had in the city.  The two shared an appreciation for “good music” and were interested in hearing each others approach. A Cee had hundreds of beats in the vault, and Mike knew exactly what he wanted.  After swapping ideas they both realised they really had a unique and creative chemistry, and that something great would emerge from a meeting of the minds.

For their first album, they produced 20 some odd demo tracks. Ten of them would make the debut full length. They laboured over the recording and mixing process for the next year. The album entitled “I am the Blood” was released on iTunes May 26th 2009. After a national tour in October 2009, they’re planning on releasing an EP of collaborations with different emcees and another LP soon!

The newly formed 2 piece (and usually more) are playing out with great frequency, to awesome reviews. With some mileage on the tires and a mountain of material still in reserve, I’m sure they’ll be a permanent fixture in the scene for many years to come.
